NovThe 2nd one is already getting the shaft.
With Miss Scratch I posted weekly updates on my pregnancy. How much weight I’d gained, how I was feeling, what we were up to, etc…
With Scratch Jr…I’ve done a disservice. I feel incredibly guilty that I have 0 updates of him and this pregnancy. I have 36 belly pictures of me and Miss Scratch. I have 4 of me and Scratch Jr.
Miss Scratch gets a new glider in her room…Scratch Jr gets her old one.
See what i mean about the shaft? Poor kid!
Anyway, I thought…What the heck, I’ll finally post an update! At least he’ll have 1 that way, right? :D
So, as of today I am 28 weeks preggo.
Scratch Jr:
By this week, Scratch Jr weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels.

He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He’s also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
Scratch Jr’s lungs are now capable of breathing air! This is big news. It means if he is born from now on, he’ll be able to survive with less medical intervention. Side note: Scratch and I have some friends that had a baby early. @28 weeks to be exact. He was in the hospital for about 3 months, but is happy and healthy and thriving now….so yay for this milestone!
Scratch Jr’s main job right now is to put the finishing touches on major organ systems, such as his brain, lungs, and liver.
His sucking and swallowing skills are improving and he’s also growing more hair on his head (hopefully!).
About 9 out of 10 babies born now will survive with intensive care services and the help of medical technology.
Me:
- Belly button status: Flat. Just the way I like it. Easy to stay clean ;D and not popping out.
- Baby Location: Oh man…is Scratch Jr different from Miss Scratch. He is all over and never stops moving. He has yet to wake me up at night, but when I wake up to pee or flip slides I feel him moving all around. Something Miss Scratch never did. I’m a little nervous that as he gets bigger and stronger he will wake me up at night and it will hurt. Yikes! Also, his moves are sooo visible. My belly is always jumping around. It’s hilarious to watch.

Only difference between this picture and Scratch Jr is that my placenta is a lot closer to my cervix…so he’s laying on top of it, instead of next to it.
- Stretch Marks: None so far.
- Pregnancy Symptoms: I’m having a lot harder time breathing…lower lung capacity. I’m guessing it has to do with Scratch Jr’s location. Also, not as much heartburn as before. Hope that doesn’t mean he’s coming out a baldy. Although…if I had to choose between a bald son and a bald daughter, I would choose son 100% of the time. I also have a very sore pelvis…again. As well as some interesting cramps every now and then. I think it’s too early for Braxton Hicks, so I’m guessing there are my muscles stretching.
- Weight Gain: 24 lbs as of last Thursday. I don’t check myself on the regular…because really what can I do about it. I’m just anal when I go to the Dr’s. lol…Take off my shoes, wear light clothes, eat light, pee before weigh in. hahah
Side note: I had gained 25lbs by 28 weeks with Miss Scratch…so as long as I gained less than a lb this week…I’m not doing too bad.
-Milestones: 83 days left ‘til Scratch Jr’s due date.
Things we’re doing:
-Painting the new nursery. We have 3 of 4 walls done. Woo Woo!
-Found a new glider on Craigslist for Miss Scratch’s room, so we can move her’s (eventually) into baby boy’s room. Why did we need another? Well…with Miss Scratch I always nursed her in her room. I felt more comfortable there, plus she was less distracted. And since Miss Scratch was on the boob for so much time during the day, I assume Scratch Jr will be too. I do not want Miss Scratch to feel left out. So, the glider we got for her room is wider. I will be able to nurse baby boy, while she sits next to me and we can read. See? There is a method to my madness! Plus, we got a smokin’ deal. $500 chair and ottoman in great condition for $150. Woo Woo!
-We haven’t started a registry yet. Why do we need a registry? 2 reasons…1) we don’t need big things, but we do need some smaller things still and 2)if we put those smaller things on a registry we get a “completion discount” when we go to close it out. You know me and deals!
-Vacation time. Woo Woo! Visiting family, beautiful (cold) weather, and Thanksgiving. So excited!
-Oh…and we got a DSLR. So excited!!! Not I just need to figure out how to use it. :)
